Attorney / J. Ryan Boatright
BACKGROUND
Ryan Boatright is a shareholder tax attorney of the firm in the Kansas City office; he serves as special tax counsel for a wide variety of public finance and public-private partnership transactions. Mr. Boatright has advised State and local governments, non-profit organizations, and bond counsel on numerous infrastructure projects including workforce and affordable housing, economic development, healthcare, airport, sports arena, K-12 and higher educational financings. He has substantial experience practicing before the Internal Revenue Service, representing non-profit organizations in applications for tax exemption as well as issuers and borrowers in audits of their bond issuances. He frequently assists both issuers and borrowers with post-issuance compliance responsibilities and has helped structure numerous tax credit transactions and secondary market securitizations.
Mr. Boatright was admitted to the Missouri bar in 2010. He received his B.A. in Economics with Honors from the University of Missouri in 2007 and his J.D. (magna cum laude) from the University of Missouri in 2010, where he was Lead Articles Editor of the Missouri Law Review and inducted into the Order of the Coif. He received his LL.M. in Taxation from the University of Missouri – Kansas City in 2013.
